Projects
The World Love Forum is dedicated to building the world you wish for yourself, your children, and your grandchildren. Our mission is to advance love in all spheres of life, through science, strategy, and soul.
Through advancing self-regulation, kindness, empathy, and compassion, we aim to reduce violence, depression, isolation, loneliness, and hate, while promoting connection and harmony among individuals, and within families, schools, workplaces, and communities.
Join the Movement to Build a Better World
Your support helps us increase love-informed actions in the major areas of people’s lives: homes, schools, workplaces, mass media and social media, and public policy. We do this through an integrated framework of science, strategy and soul.
Science – to put research findings into practice
Strategy – to wisely allocate resources for maximum impact
Soul – to address the essence of being human and what unites us across differences.
Our Core Activities Across Projects
Educate and empower individuals and communities so they can benefit from the fruits of research to make well-informed decisions to promote individual good and the collective good;
We do this through translation and dissemination of research-based information on love and related areas within the social and behavioral sciences;
We empower individuals and groups to be at their best emotionally through the promotion of self-regulation and love in order to prevent violence and depression and create conditions essential to human well-being, and flourishing;
We work to create lasting change for individuals and communities so there will be a sustained increase in kindness, empathy, compassion, and civil discourse.
Benefits to Individuals, Communities and Societies: Safer and more secure communities for you, your children and grandchildren.
According to the World Health Organization, one in three women and one in two children around the world experience violence. Additionally large numbers of men and youth also experience violence. All together that is well over one billion people.
According to UNESCO, one in three school learners experience bullying around the world, and about twenty percent of the workforce experiences toxic workplaces. According to the International Labor Organization, 50 million people are currently in situations of forced labor and human trafficking.
The World Love Forum aims to reduce these numbers by advancing love as a social vaccine against violence and promoting emotional health by advancing love as an essential psychological nutrient from infancy to old age.
By supporting the projects listed below, you are contributing to the following outcomes:
Stronger, stress-proof relationships between spouses, parents and children, and within families, thereby reducing the risk of depression and violence.
Reduce bullying in schools by equipping children with tools for emotional regulation and empathy.
Decrease various forms of inter-personal violence by the widespread diffusion and adoption of self-regulation, conflict resolution skills, empathy, compassion, kindness and perspective taking.
Decrease in Suicide by promoting social connection, emotional health and healthy living conditions.
Improve chronic illness outcomes by integrating mental health promotion and compassion-informed practices into healthcare systems.
Lower rates of substance use through promoting healthy coping mechanisms, social support, self-regulation and stronger social and community ties.
Reduce hate crimes by promoting humanization and fostering genuine and meaningful human connections.
Our Key Projects
Entertainment-Education via Mass Media and Social Media: Prevention for Pennies per Person.
Equipping media producers, writers, and film makers in entertainment industries globally, with tools to infuse entertainment with messages of love, compassion, resilience and emotional health. This is a research-based proven way to model healthy alternatives to violence and promote positive cultural and social shifts in the direction of greater compassion and kindness.
Initial focus on world-wide training for media personnel. This is the John Snow approach to addressing an epidemic, i.e. stopping the problem at the source and taking rapid action based on what we already know to be efficacious.
Subsequent in-depth country-level program to “vaccinate an entire country with love” and reduce interpersonal violence, bullying, suicide and other forms of emotional distress. This is the Cochrane approach enabling detailed outcome measures and making the case for ongoing programming on the country level.
A Core Curriculum on Love in Action: Practical Researched-Based Strategies for Emotionally Healthy Lives & Communities.
The core curriculum will be tailored to various groups including school teachers and other educators, health care professionals, community group leaders and any additional groups who are interested in improving the emotional health of people through reduction of violence, depression and emotional distress and through the promotion of healthy relationships.
In addition to text versions, to promote widespread diffusion and adoption of these behaviors and ideas, we will use videos and other media to convey the content of the Core Curriculum on Love in Action to the general public.
The curriculum is intended to support “health literacy” which refers to people’s ability to comprehend technical information and make informed decisions for themselves and their communities. In other words, making the research-based and science-based information usable by the public.
Multi-Media Social Media Campaigns based on the Core Curriculum on Love in Action to promote behaviors such as kindness, civility & compassion
Establish ongoing social media campaigns, using videos, animations, infographics and other media. The aim is to engage and involve large numbers of people in societies to become advocates and role models for kindness, empathy, and civil discourse.
Infuse social media channels with content informed by the vast research within positive psychology and highlight self-regulation, kindness, empathy, gratitude, social harmony, resilience and related topics; in other words “More Mister Rogers, Less Rambo.”
Music to Promote Emotional Health, Self-Regulation, Social Bonds & Strengthen Families and Communities
Music to support relaxation and emotional health and stress-proof individuals and relationships. (E.g. calming instrumental music and choral works.)
Using music as a bridge to deepen social ties and promote family and community cohesion. (e.g. “I Will Build this World from Love” in various languages and with diverse music instruments.)
Documentary: Ahimsa – The Science, Strategy, and Soul of Non-Violence
This film will inform, equip and empower viewers to make changes in their own lives and within their spheres of influence, so collectively millions of people together can work to end the global epidemics of violence and depression and stop Thoreau’s Quiet Desperation, all the while, promoting love, kindness and compassion in the world.
This documentary highlights the innovative approaches to violence prevention developed by Dr. SD Shanti and shows audiences practical research-based strategies that can be implemented worldwide to stop the epidemic of violence affecting over one billion people and how to replace violence and hate with love.
This film blends science, strategy and soul, offering viewers a path to a more compassionate, kind and non-violent world.
